Duterte rejects house arrest for De Lima
President Duterte has scoffed at proposals to place detained Senator Leila de Lima under house arrest, and insisted that she is not a “prisoner of conscience.”
“They come here and say she’s a prisoner of conscience, my God,” Duterte quipped.

“Nagpunta ako doon sa Crame, sinilip ko ‘yung presuhan niya. Pssssttt. Gusto kong sabihin o… Malayo man [I went to Camp Crame and took a peek at her detention cell. I wanted to say something but it was far],” he said.
De Lima said she has been deprived of liberty for defending human rights, opposing the killings and other abuses linked to Duterte’s war on drugs.
